Before and After: Seating

I love the idea of bringing something old back to life. Although I don't spend much time in thrift stores, I know that with a bit of imagination, often-overlooked pieces can turn into something amazing.

DIY Project: Art for the bedroom

Have you ever had that moment when you're reading your fave mag, see something ridiculously expensive but so simple and think "I could make that!" ?

This happened to me the other week, where I saw an amazing piece of rustic art:

I decided to take advantage of a lazy Sunday and get this project started. Off I went to Spotlight for the materials (canvas, paint brush and two paint colours). Total price was around $30.

First, I started with painting the whole canvas a chocolate brown colour. Then I printed and cut out the letters and blue-tacked them to the dried canvas.

Makeover: Bedroom Lamps

The Hubs and I are coming up to our three year house-iversary! We moved into our first home two and a half years ago and we were lucky enough to rent it out for 8 months before moving in. We were therefore able to save and buy all new furniture, however after two years of trying to convince myself I love it all, there are still some pieces that I'd like to update.

One of those pieces was our bedside lamps. I love the base, but the pattern on the lamp shade was too "hibiscus" (if that's a decent description). Off to Target I went to get some new shades!

I have also just purchased some new scatter cushions for the bed, so I'm excited to see the look come together!
